Claiming After an Accident?

At Midland Motor Services LTD, we understand how stressful dealing with the aftermath of a car accident can be. When it comes to repairs, many insurance companies will try to direct you to their chosen repairers. While this might seem convenient, it's not always the best option for you or your vehicle. The good news? You have the right to choose your own repairer—and we’re here to ensure that you’re informed and confident in making that decision.

Your Right to Choose

No matter what your insurance company says, the choice of where to have your vehicle repaired is entirely yours. If you’ve invested in a new car or have a preference for a specific repairer, including your car manufacturer’s authorized bodyshop, your insurance provider cannot deny you that option. This puts you in control of ensuring that your vehicle gets the highest quality repair—exactly how you want it done.

The Advantage of Using Your Own Repairer

While some insurance-approved garages may offer a reliable service, using your own trusted repairer, like Midland Motor Services, can provide several advantages:

  • Original Parts: When using your insurer’s repairer, they may opt for non-original parts. However, by choosing your own repairer, you can insist on genuine, original parts to maintain the integrity of your vehicle.

  • Quality Assurance: Our team at Midland Motor Services provides expert repairs, with a commitment to quality and attention to detail. You’ll know exactly who is handling your vehicle and the standards we hold ourselves to.

How to Inform Your Insurer

Once you’ve chosen to have your vehicle repaired with us, it's crucial to communicate your decision to your insurer. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Check Your Policy: Some insurance policies may come with additional excess charges if you choose to use a repairer outside their network. Make sure to check the details of your policy so there are no surprises.

  • No Multiple Estimates Required: Your insurance company may request multiple repair estimates, but this is not necessary if you’ve already chosen a repairer. Stand firm with your decision and let us handle the rest.

Insurance Engineer Inspections

In most cases, your insurer will send an engineer to inspect your vehicle before approving the repairs. If any disputes arise, such as disagreements about the cost of repairs or attempts to redirect the vehicle elsewhere, don’t hesitate to contact us. We can help mediate these issues to ensure you get the repair service you deserve.

Independent Engineer Support

Whether the accident was your fault or not, you have the option of arranging an independent engineer to inspect the vehicle and agree on repair costs directly with us. This ensures a fair assessment and a smoother process for getting your vehicle back on the road.

  • If you’d like to pursue this, simply ask your repairer (Midland Motor Services LTD) to contact us, and we’ll arrange for an independent engineer to carry out the assessment.

  • Once the inspection is complete, you can submit a Proforma Invoice along with the engineer’s report to your insurer for reimbursement, including VAT.

Claims Management Services

If all of this sounds overwhelming, don’t worry! We offer claims management services where we handle the entire process for you. From dealing with insurers to arranging inspections, we’ll manage everything, so you don’t have to worry about the details.

Paying for Repairs Yourself

If you have the ability to fund the repairs upfront, you can pay the bill directly and submit the invoice to your insurer for reimbursement. As long as everything is handled properly, they are required to cover the costs in full, including VAT.

Avoiding Fraudulent Claims

We are committed to maintaining transparency and fairness in all aspects of the repair process. Please be aware that we reserve the right to withdraw our services if we suspect any form of fraudulent activity. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Claiming for damage that wasn’t caused by the accident.

  • Unrelated repairs or parts being included in the claim.

  • Staged accidents or other fraudulent behavior.

It’s important to remember that honesty and integrity throughout the claims process will ensure you get the service and repairs you’re entitled to without any complications.

At Midland Motor Services LTD, we pride ourselves on offering a smooth, stress-free repair experience after an accident. Whether you’re looking to arrange your own repairs or want help managing your insurance claim, we’re here to help every step of the way.
